About Us
Daniel Nelson qualified at the British School of Osteopathy in 1991. The training at the BSO was a rigorous 4 year full time course at the end of which Daniel was awarded a Diploma in Osteopathy or DO which is the most traditional osteopathic qualification. More recently this has become a BSc (Hons) Ost. After graduating Daniel worked at the Osteopathic Centre for Children where he gained an understanding of the osteopathic approach to treating babies and children. He also worked in other more general osteopathic practices in central London until re-locating his private practice to Winchester in 1998. He worked as an NHS GP Practice Osteopath for 21 years at The Nunhead NHS Surgery in London. He continues to do a wide variety of post graduate training courses in osteopathy and related topics such as orthopaedics.
Daniel has an interest in treating the whole family from babies and children to those in more mature years. Daniel has experience in treating expectant mothers. He also treats sports people of all ages.
Daniel is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the British Osteopathic Association.
As a former rugby and judo player Daniel has always enjoyed sport and fitness. Schoolboy rugby was follwed by judo in his 20s reaching 1st Dan black belt. Running has always been a part of his recreational and fitness activities and he ran many medium distance races in his 30 and 40 at an intermediate level. This interest in sport led to a fascination by the musculo-skeletal system and injury healing through manual therapy (osteopathy) and exercises (specific exercises or things like yoga and pilates). His continued interest and enjoyment of exercise has helped to perpetuate that interest.
